To investigate the relationship between serum and ISF at early time points, we used another three groups of mice (randomly divided from 9 mice), administered microneedle patches and collected blood at earlier time points, namely before LPS injection, and 1 and 2.5 h after LPS injection, respectively. Blood was collected via the submandibular vein right after the removal of microneedle patch at each time point and serum was stored at −20 °C for further analysis. Methods and reagents to determine the concentration of IL-6 in ISF and serum are identical to those mentioned in the previous section.
