About this deal

All the games in my books are designed so that hopefully anyone can play them with just usual household stuff. At Books2Door, we believe that reading is a fundamental skill that every child should have to help improve their vocabulary, grammar, and critical thinking skills. I spoke about this on my Instagram stories the other day but I thought I should perhaps get it down on the blog as I got quite a strong response to it on messages. Packed full of games and activities designed to help children feel confident and excited about learning, Time For School will support them - and you! I first started my blog back in Spring of 2018, after using my TA skills to start teaching Ewan (who was three at the time) the letters in his name.

Here are some fantastic posts from other experts who have kindly shared their wisdom in these brilliant five minute reads. Whatever your child really enjoys tell them those things will be there and ask them what they think they will find too.

Starting School gives you and your little one glimpses of all the learning they will do and all the fun they will have. Feeling anxious is totally natural and lots of children might feel daunted about starting a new school.

So I started doing bits and bobs, five minutes a day, to help get him ready the best way I knew how. It talks them through every aspect of modern day school life with a group of five friends and Maurice the Five Minute Mole. We do our best to provide good quality books for you to read, but there is no escaping the fact that it has been owned and read by someone else previously. There will be things in school with their name written on just for them like their peg, so it’s lovely for them to spot this. It’s really tempting when you see your child struggling to do something to just step in and do it for them. It might not pay off today, or tomorrow or even in 8 months time but once you’ve built them you can’t take them away. For some children being able to draw simply requires showing them how to hold a pencil (one block) but for others they need to be shown how to draw each shape individually with support (lots of blocks). Switch off the telly or any distractions and just have a little chat about all the lovely things they will do at school.
